According to Obesity statistics accessed on October 23, 2012 the United States is the country with the highest obese rate in the world. With a country at 37% obesity, there is a serious problem that we face today. However, how do we attack this problem and pin point who to blame, for a topic not only touchy, but vague. How do we determine the cause? If we do appoint the problem how do we fix it? According to the previous source many Americans today are affected by obesity due to either their young eating habits or misguided parent eating credentials. According to Organic website accessed on October 24, 2012 it states that around 16-33 % of American teens are obese. So is this the young eating habits the problem? It would make sense that if we start having healthier eating habits from the start we could prevent worse eating habits in the future.
What is obesity? Obesity is not defined as couple of pounds over your weight, usually today obesity is defined as 10% over your recommended weight. Obesity today is a serious problem that we face for Americans, especially young Americans, however, how do we fix and contribute to a healthier eating diet. I believe that through healthier school programs that benefit not only healthy eating habits but a tasty school lunch would be a beneficial factor to our FAT situation.
A young American's eating diet is very odd to begin with. Because many teen Americans have to rush to school, they don't eat an adequate breakfast. When i was a child, I was always taught that breakfast was always the most important meal of the day, not just because if you break the word apart it becomes "break" and "fast", but it provides nutrition that gives you energy throughout the day when you need it the most. At school we start to get more hungry, and we usually need some form of food for lunch. However, this is the problem, our school lunches today don't have enough nutritional value. on top of that our school lunches aren't tasty to begin with. So our choices for a young American teen is either to not eat at all or to eat a nasty unhealthy meal.
